Dr. Hugo E. Artaza was born in Austin, Texas in 1955. For eight years of his youth he lived in South America when Brown & Root assigned his father to Paraguay. While in South America, he became fluent in Spanish.
After graduating from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in Houston, Texas, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Dr. Artaza graduated from The University of Texas HSC Dental Branch in Houston in 1981. He completed the four-year program in three years with a degree as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Artaza is a private practitioner with over 23 years of experience.
In 1986, Dr. Artaza and his family moved to Katy where his practice has remained. He and his wife, Donna, have three children: Nicolas, Marco and Danica. The family is actively involved in the Katy community. Dr. Artaza is a parishioner at Epiphany of the Lord where he is a member of the Men's Club and Knights of Columbus. He is a member in good standing in the Greater Houston Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry and the Pankey Institute.
Dr. Artaza has been involved with Heart for Honduras since 1996. He has led dental teams to rural areas and villages in Honduras where they provide relief aid and dental services to the local community. Tooth and gum disease is the fourth leading cause of death in the rural areas of Honduras. These missions have made a difference in the lives of thousands who visit the clinic each year.
To maintain his position on the leading edge of dental technology, Dr. Artaza and his staff regularly attend continuing education courses. He has extensive continuing education in implantology, cosmetic dentistry, microsurgery, root canal surgery and forsenic dentistry. The construction of Dr. Artaza's new office was be completed April, 2007 and the office has moved to 21510 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy.
Dr. Artaza's practice focuses on restorative and cosmetic dentistry. In 2003, Dr. Artaza incorporated the CEREC to become a vital cornerstone of his dental practice. He has attended the CEREC basic training with Dr. Conrad. He also attended the Advanced CEREC training with Dr. Mark Moran in Detroit. He has had the opportunity to informally attend one of Dr. Conrad's training sessions to expand in his own knowledge and share his experiences with the individual dentists. In 2004, Dr. Artaza was requested by Patterson Rep, Hector Gonzalez to conduct a mini-training session for Drs. Boehm, Wheeler, Barkley and partner. In addition to the training, he conducted a live demonstration of two simultaneous restorations. In fall of 2004, Dr. Artaza and Hector Gonzalez conducted a one-day training session to the dentists on staff at the Veteran's Hospital in Houston. Dr. Artaza also worked with Patterson Companies at the 2004 ADA Texas Meeting in San Antonio and the 2004 & 2005 Star of the South Meeting in Houston to educate and inform dentists of CEREC technology.
With the CEREC 3D, restorations can be achieved in the highest caliber and can transcend a dental practices' dynamics. The high tech restoration of the CEREC comes close to the expertise of Mother Nature. Dr. Artaza has intense enthusiasm for the CEREC. He has performed over 1,000 restorations utilizing the CEREC system. This includes crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers, anterior crowns and staining. His mission goal would be to help other doctors achieve success, reduce their learning curve, enhance their skills and knowledge with Patterson and CEREC 3D.
